How to delete a blank page in Google Documents

A soft document created in a word processing app can be hundreds of pages long. You can format the document in any way you like with headings, sections, chapters, page breaks and more. Format can be tricky if you do not know how a particular word processor works and its features. Changing tables, images, index, indent, bulleted points, lists with numbers etc, can leave blank spaces and pages in a document.

Delete a blank page in Google Documents

A blank page can be present at the end of a document or it can be present in the middle. It is not difficult to delete, without deleting the content of the document or disturbing the format of the document.

Remove last page

To delete a blank page in the Google Docs document, which is at the very end of the document, follow these steps.

1. Open the document in Google Documents.
2. Scroll to the the very end of the document.
3. Click on the first line of the blank page.
4. Tap on the backspace key on the keyboard.
5. The The page will be deleted.

You can add page breaks in Google Documents. It is a blank page with no content.

1. Click on the first line of blank page.
2. Tap on the backspace key on the keyboard.

To delete a blank page in the middle of the document that was not added by page break, the process is a bit different.

1. Navigate to the a blank page of the document in Google Docs.
2. Click on the the first line of the document and drag the cursor all the way down.
3. You see selected blank lines will appear.
4. Tap on the Remove the key.
5. Repeat if any blank lines are left.

Another but longer way to delete a blank page in the middle of a document is to have;

1. Click on the last line of the blank page.
2. Tap on the backspace key until the space and the page disappear.

Conclusion

Word processors do not behave in the same way. If you are used to Microsoft Word, it deletes a blank page when a user taps the Delete button with the cursor at the end of the last page (the one before the blank page). Google Documents will not follow this contract and you will find that there are not many other word processors either. If you are using an app other than Google Documents and Microsoft Word, try one of the two methods and one of them should work.
