Netflix has released a number of original titles, both movies and series, which have been a huge success. Like most popular media titles, games have been developed around some of the most popular Netflix movies and games. Bandersnatch was developed on the Choose Your Own Adventure novel model. There are also a good number of mobile games developed by Netflix for titles like Stranger stuff.
Netflix Games
Netflix games are available for iOS and Android. You will not get a game to play on your PC or console but there are several different titles that you can play on your phone. The games are free to play, however, you must have a Netflix account (and a membership) to play them.
The Netflix games tab
If you keep the Netflix app updated, you’ll see a new Games tab at the bottom. Go to this games tab and you will see a list of available games. There are currently five titles available;
- Stranger Things: 1984
- Stranger Things 3: The Game
- Hunting Circles (Frosty Pop)
- Card Blower (Amuzo & Rogue Games)
- Teeter Up (Frosty Pop)
Go to the Games tab, and select the game you want to play. You will be able to download and play it.
All games are available though, the tab may not be visible with all Netflix accounts just yet. That doesn’t mean you can’t play the game. It just means you have to search for and download from the app store for your phone.
Download Netflix games manually
The key to downloading the official Netflix games is to know what the game is called, and make sure that the title you are downloading was developed by Netflix. Developer information can be found on the game details / card page on both the App Store and Google Play Store.
- Open the Google Play Store on Android or the App Store on iOS.
- Watch for Netflix game eg Stranger Things: 1984.
- Confirm that Netflix is the developer.
- Download the game (enter your Google password or Apple ID if needed).
- Open the game.
- Select the Netflix profile you want to play as (each profile gets its own game profile and scorecard).
- Start the game.
Conclusion
If you open a game after downloading it directly from your phone’s app store, you may be prompted to log in to your Netflix account. If you have your Netflix app installed on your phone, this usually shouldn’t happen. That said, use a Netflix account and you’ll be good to go. There is no restriction on what type / tier account you need to have in order to play the games. Customers can play no matter if they have the cheapest or most expensive plan.
