Chrome needs to be redone when it updates. It can also fall at times. You will also close the browser when you are done with the task and it will reopen the next day, possibly to the same page. To make this easier ie, to build where you left off from work, Chrome has a continuity feature.
Chrome: Continue to where you left off
Chrome is on where you left off the feature remembering which tabs were last opened. When you close the browser, it crashes, or needs to be redone, it will use this information to reopen those tabs. If the feature does not work, make sure you have it turned on.
- Open Chrome.
- Click on the more options button and select Settings from the table.
- Scroll down to On the Start section.
- Select the Continue where you left the selection.
- If the option is enabled, and it does not work, try the solutions below.
1. Open several windows
If you have tabs open across multiple windows, Chrome may not be able to open them all. It usually only opens one window and the tabs that were open in it. Open another window and other tabs will open in it.
2. Check / disable extensions
Sometimes an extension can block the Continue feature where you left off. Turn off the extensions and then check if it works.
- Open Chrome.
- Click on the more options button at the top right and select More Tools> Extensions.
- Turn the add each extension to it.
- Close and reopen Chrome.
- Do tabs will open again.
3. Create a new Chrome profile
Chrome profile can be corrupted and this can cause problems with Chrome features. The easiest configuration is to create a new image.
- Open Chrome.
- Click on your statue image at the top.
- Select Add.
- Enter a name for the new profile.
- Remove the old profile.
- Sign in with your Google account in the new profile.
- Your data syncs with it and you can start using it.
4. Reset Chrome
If the feature still does not work, please reinstall Chrome.
- Open Chrome.
- Click on the more options button at the top right.
- Select Options from the table.
- Click Advanced at the bottom.
- Scroll to the bottom.
- Click Return the settings to their default settings.
- Click Reset settings.
5. Clean Chrome installation
If the reset doesn’t fix the problem and the new profile doesn’t work either, you can clean up Chrome installation.
- Open Chrome.
- Enter this in the location bar:
chrome://version - Make a copy of the link to your profile.
- Open the link in File Explorer.
- Close Chrome.
- Go to root Chrome folder and delete it.
- Open Control Panel.
- go to Programs> Enter a program.
- Select Chrome and click on the Uninstall button.
- Download Chrome and install it again.
Conclusion
Chrome’s Continue where you left off the feature usually struggles with multiple windows. The way around is to open a second window. Other tabs you had open will open there. As with many profiles, a profile will not build where you left off until you open a window of the profile itself.
