Minecraft, when played online, requires users to sign in to their account. Users need to sign in with their Microsoft account and, once logged in, they will usually keep them logged in. If you change your password to your Microsoft account, or make other security-related changes to your account, your name will be added to your account -out of all items, including into Minecraft.
Fix Minecraft: Error with login account
Signing into Minecraft is easy; you click the sign-in option, enter your Microsoft account email and password, verify with any 2-factor authentication app you can set up, and you’re good to go.
If you try to sign in to Minecraft, and you get an error with the account message when you do, try the solutions below.
1. Confirm login information
Check that you are entering the correct email and password. Please visit your Microsoft account page in your browser and sign in. If you cannot log in, you are likely to enter incorrect credentials. Try bypassing an account to find the correct email or trying to recover the password.
Once you have the correct email and password, use it to login to Minecraft.
2. Exit and reopen Minecraft
Try restarting Minecraft, and your system. It can fix login issues and is a simple solution to try. Please try disabling the app first and reopening it. If that does not do the trick, restart the system and then open Minecraft.
3. Use the official surgeon
If you are using the Java edition of Minecraft, make sure you are using the official surgeon. It may be embarrassing to use a third – party surgeon, but that’s probably why you can’t sign up. Use the official surgeon and sign up for Minecraft. Once you are logged in, try using the third-party surgeon afterwards.
4. Check network settings
If you can sign in to your Microsoft account outside of Minecraft, but get an error in Minecraft, it may be a network error.
- Open Control Panel.
- Go to System and security> Windows Defender Firewall.
- Click the Allow app or feature via the Windows Defender Firewall option in the left-hand column.
- Look through the list and make sure Minecraft has permission to communicate over both public and private networks.
5. Update Minecraft
Update Minecraft. The Java version does not update automatically and the Bedrock / Windows 10 version may not have been updated automatically despite their capability. Please update the application and then try logging in.
6. Turn off proxy / VPN
Minecraft rarely requires a proxy or VPN unless you are using it where it is blocked eg School or work. If you are playing at home, and have a VPN or proxy enabled, disable it and then try logging in. Once logged in, you can always enable the proxy / VPN again and then continue playing.
Conclusion
Minecraft sign in trouble tends to be sporadic. They can appear at random and go away on their own. If you still can’t log in, try waiting a few hours before trying again.
