To join a domain, you need to design it manually and need to know which domain you want to connect to. There are many ways to connect a domain to Windows 10. You need to be connected to a network that allows you to access the domain. This could be the internet or it could be a local network that you need to be connected to.
1. Join domain – Settings app
To join a domain from the Settings app, follow these steps.
- Open the Configuration application with keyboard shortcut Win + I.
- go to Accounts.
- Go to Induction work and school tab.
- Click on the Connect button.
- Sign in to the account.
2. Join land – Control Panel
You can join a domain from the Control Panel. The setting is not directly accessible but the process is simple nonetheless.
- Open File Explorer.
- Enter this in the location bar:

and tap on Enter. - Click Change settings next to the computer name.
- In the window that opens, go to the computer name tab.

3. Join land – Command Prompt
To join a domain through Command Prompt, follow these steps.
- Open Promptly forward with administrative rights.
- Run the following a command;
netdom /domain:DomainName /user:Username /password:YourPassword member <computer name> /joindomain
- Replace DomainName with the domain name you want to go together.
- Replace username with your username.
- Replace YourPassword with the password for your account.
- Replace your computer name with the name of your computer (you can look up from the Settings app).
- Do a computer is added to the domain.
Conclusion
Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 S do not support connection domains. With Windows 10 Home, you can join a school or work network but the option only works from the Settings app. The Control Panel option is for joining a disabled network on Windows 10 Home. Command Prompt mode works on Windows 10 Home and Pro but no method works on Windows S. You need to switch to Windows 10 Home or Windows 10 Pro. The version will not be free ie you will need to purchase the version of Windows you want to use. If you are doing the version, you should choose Windows 10 Pro.
