If you have a video editor, you can use it to add audio to a video. The audio can be recorded separately with an audio recording device like Audacity however, it adds an extra layer of work to everything. For many users, it is easier to record the audio while recording video. To that end, OBS is a great tool for the job. He can record audio from a son or from a desk.

OBS is a free and easy-to-use tool. Download and install OBS and then follow the steps below to record the screen with audio.

  1. Open OBS.
  2. In the views column, click the plus button.
  3. Select Window capture.
  4. Select the window you want to record or the desktop you want to record.
  5. Add as source.

  1. In the panel to the right of the Source column, move the mic and desktop audio if you want to record audio that is being extracted from your system’s speakers.
  2. In the panel to the right of the Source column, move the desktop audio and output the mic if you want to record a voice while you record the desktop.
  3. Click on Start recording.
  4. Record the sound as you record the screen.
  5. Click stop recording when you are done.

Note: OBS adds the audio directly to the video and does not save it as an audio file by itself. The next section details how to request the sound if you need to edit it.

Remove sound from recording

If, after recording the screen saver, you want to remove and edit the audio, you can use Audacity.

  1. Open Audacity.
  2. Drag & drop the video file to Audacity.
  3. The hearing will be remote.
  4. You can edit and add to the audio with a video editor.
