Parrots are a rare mob found in jungle biomes in Minecraft. When killed, they drop feathers but have no other means other than what they fall. Considering the rarity of a parrot, it is not a good idea to hunt feathers when chickens are more common and easier to kill. However, parrots can be registered and if you happen to be looking for one, you can easily attract them.
Parrot in Minecraft
Parrots can be called but they are one of the rare parrots that do not have a baby version, and cannot be bred. They do not play a major role ie you do not need a parrot but you can get one if you wish.
Tame Parrot in Minecraft
Parrots are named by feeding them seeds. You can use it;
- Wheat seeds
- Melon seeds
- Pumpkin seeds
- Beet seeds
Wheat seeds are the easiest to obtain; breaking grass until you get seeds. You can also harvest fully grown wheat crops and let them sow seeds in addition to wheat.
To get Melon seeds, you can put a slice of melon in the crafting table, or you can crush a fully grown melon and it can drop seeds. Similarly, to get Pumpkin seeds, you can put a pumpkin in the crafting table or you can harvest a fully grown pumpkin. Beetroot seeds are obtained by harvesting the crop. It is usually found on town farms although it is rare.
Once you have seeds (at least 15-20), you need to find a parrot. Look for a jungle biome. Parrots tend to spawn near other phones and usually on leaf blocks. Climb a tree and look for them. When you see a parrot, click on it with the Use button. Repeat until you can see hearts coming from the bird.
As soon as the parrot is called, it will follow you around and sit on your shoulder. You can take it off your shoulders by going to sleep, or falling from a high area. Parrots can fly and not sustain fall damage.
You can dump as many parrots as you like. Two parrots can grip a player’s shoulders; one parrot on each shoulder and the others will follow you. Parrots come in a wide variety of vibrant colors. If you happen to have a music box, and a parrot, the parrot will dance to music. Again, this does nothing for gameplay but nonetheless is a fun part of the game. Parrots do not attack mobs, however, they imitate noises made by mobs.
