Windows 11 doesn’t seem to have major bugs right now, at least none have been identified. One problem that a few users have reported is that internet is slow. You can usually expect the internet to stay a bit slow after you install a new OS but the problem persists for some users.

The slow internet problem can be caused by Intel Killer Network Software.

Intel Killer network software

Intel Killer network software is an Intel app. It is installed on your system either when you install network drivers or by your desktop / laptop manufacturer. You will find this software on your system if you have one of the following hardware components.

Intel® Killer™ Wi-Fi 6 AX1650 (is)
Intel® Killer™ Wi-Fi 6 AX1650 (xw)
Intel® Killer™ Wi-Fi 6E AX1675 (xw)
Intel® Killer™ Ethernet E3100 2.5 Gbps

However it installs drivers for these hardware parts, it also runs some services in the background to manage the connection. Outside of drivers, you do not need to run services. Your network card will work fine. Those services that run the Intel Killer Network Software app cause slow internet on Windows 11. Fortunately, you can stop them from running.

Disable Intel Killer network software services

To disable the services run by the Intel Killer Network Software app, follow these steps.

  1. Tap on the Win + R keyboard shortcut to open the run box.
  2. In the Run box, enter services.msc and tap the Enter key.
  3. In the Services app, look for the following services.

Killer Analytics Service
Killer dynamic bandwidth control
Killer Network Service
Killer Smart AP selection service

  1. Right-click a service and select Stop from the context menu.
  2. Double-click the service and go to the General tab.
  3. Open the Startup type drop down.
  4. Select Disabled from the menu.
  5. Repeat for the services we have listed.
  6. Restart the system.

The Intel Killer network software application may be causing problems on your system. If not, these services do not need to be disabled. If you feel that the internet is slow on your system, compared to other devices you use on the same network, it is worth turning off these services to see if it makes a difference. .
