Both of these parts are important but they are not the only ones that can get hot from intense use. If you have a GPU on your system, of course you have two graphics cards; onboard graphics card and special card.
The onboard graphics card gets hot too but you may never know how hot it gets as there are not many tools built to detect the temperature of the onboard graphics card. Unless you have a dedicated GPU, the onboard graphics card handles everything and you need to know how hot it is to keep it from being damaged.
To detect the temperature of any component on your system, it must have its own temperature sensors. GPUs always have a temperature sensor because they are going to be intensively used and handle heavy tasks. On-board graphics cards usually do not have a temperature sensor.
CPU temperature is the closest thing or sensor that can be approximated to your graphics card, please check first to see if, at the opportunity, it has a sensor own temperature at your graphics card.
Check system temperature sensors
