How to Fix the Chrome Menu Button Missing (Full Guide)

Clean UI was one of the main selling points of Chrome when it was new and was capturing more and more of the browser market. Unlike many stock web browsers found on various desktop operating systems, Chrome has always had a clean UI. It has blocked toolbars and the like in favor of a few buttons and one URL bar.

Over the years, Chrome’s UI has become more and more popular. At this point, to access Chrome options, bookmarks, extensions, etc., users have to go through a menu that is accessible through a single button at the top right.

Chrome Table Button

  • Chrome Bookmarks: chrome://bookmarks/
  • Chrome History: chrome://history/
  • Download Chrome: chrome://downloads/
  • Chrome Extensions: chrome://extensions/
  • Chrome Support: chrome://settings/help

5. Reset Chrome

Chrome pages can be accessed directly but the tab and menu tab have a few other settings that make it easier for users to access through the button. To fix this problem, try resetting Chrome.

  1. Open Chrome.
  2. Enter this chrome://settings/reset in the position bar and tap on Enter.
  3. Select the Reset option.
  4. Chrome will be reset and the record button returns.

A malicious extension is usually to blame if anything in the Chrome UI is changed. Chrome usually prevents an extension from making major changes to it but nothing tells how an extension could deceive the browser. Always install trusted and approved extensions in Chrome and avoid side loading.
