Many users running into this problem report using McAfee on their system. Enabling it allowed Discord to install by default. Disable whatever anti-virus you are using on Windows 10 and enable Windows Defender. Windows Defender will not block Discord and your system will not be compromised.
Discord is easy to install and problems during installation are very rare. Although an installer error failed, although it is rare, it is not limited to just Discord. Users have run into the same error with other apps, most notably Microsoft Teams. The file extraction method usually solves the problem.
